Changing careers is always a scary prospect. Know if the timing is right makes it all the more scary. So how do you know when to stick it out, or just call it quits?
Well really the decision is down to you alone and you need to trust your own instincts. If your mind is telling you it’s time to go then you need to get that CV dusted off and ready.
Here to help though are my top 5 tell tail signs that it’s time to hit the road Jack.
1. Your Workload is non-existent
Yeah you’ve looked at the clock 5 times now and it’s still only 2:07pm. It’s not a broken clock it’s a lack of work. If your work has no meaning then your reason for working may feel the same way.
2. Your Boss Treats you Like sh*t
Hey, it’s not worth it. If you’ve put up with your crazy boss for long enough you need to leave. Nobody deserves to be treated badly.
3. You’re Underpaid
Well if you’re happy then you should always speak to your boss first about a possible rise. However, if your boss just doesn’t appreciate you then it’s time to look else ware.
4. You Are the Smartest Person in the Room
You should always be challenged in your job. If your field is advancing but you’re stuck in a time warp then when it’s time to leave you’ll be at a disadvantage. Don’t get left behind; get your CV ready now.
5. You’re Genuinely Unhappy
No need for an explanation here. You deserve better.
So that’s it for this week’s blog. Hope you’re having a good day wherever you are. If you do decide that it’s time to hightail it out of that office, and you need help getting your interview game face back on, then don’t hesitate to get in touch.
